CORONAVIRUS LOCAL GOVERNMENT: Update

LOCAL AUTHORITY MEMBERS: Local authorities have been issued with new guidance in relation to paid leave for employees who are instructed to self-isolate as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19).

While the number of confirmed cases of infection by the COVID-19 Coronavirus are currently low in the UK, the Scottish Joint Council for local government employees (SJC) has issued advice that should be followed by councils in the event of employees being directly impacted.

Local government employees who have been instructed to self-isolate on medical advice – and who are unable to work from home – will be granted paid leave under the provision for the duration of the self-isolation or until they develop symptoms. The SJC circular below gives full details.
