SWIG is now working alongside Glasgow Caledonian University to organise and deliver these popular online webinars. Social work lecturer and UNISON member Lynn Sheridan has taken over from Edinburgh University’s Avril McIvor as UNISON Scotland’s partner for these events.
SWIG chair and UNISON Scotland depute convener, Stephen Smellie said: “We are delighted to continue our association with a Scottish University social work school in designing and presenting these webinars and we are looking forward to working with Lynn.
“We also want to thank Avril and her colleagues Sarah and Rona for all their hard work to arrange and deliver our first set of seminars. These were an unqualified success with some attracting over 200 participants.”
Lynn Sheridan will chair this event and we will also hear from UNISON Scotland’s Stephen Smellie, Colin Turbett on the Common Weal perspective and Alison Evison, Chair of CoSLA.
Future topics will include “The Promise revisited” looking at what the workforce needs to implement the Promise to our looked after and care experienced children and their families.
We are also looking at topics on keeping safe in the social work workplace and others with a focus on criminal justice and adult services. If you have ideas for a future webinar please let us know by contacting email@example.com
