Latifat Anifowose, NHS Glasgow & Clyde CVS branch, also spoke in support of Motion 48, drawing on the lived experiences of migrant women working in the NHS and social care.
She highlighted the impossible choices many women on Certificates of Sponsorship visas face, balancing demanding frontline roles with unaffordable childcare costs and limited access to support.
Latifat stressed that these barriers disproportionately affect Black migrant women, placing unnecessary financial and emotional pressure on families while risking the loss of skilled workers from essential public services.
She called on conference to support the motion and ensure migrant women receive the childcare support, workplace flexibility and equality they deserve.
