Supporting the amendment to Motion 9 — it’s about understanding the data we collect on our branch activities and using it wisely. From my own experience: when I first studied accounts, it was all about the figures. But when I went on to do my Business Studies degree, I realised that figures alone aren’t enough — they need to be interpreted.
You need to understand what the data is really telling you — because that’s what helps you know where to focus your efforts and where to put resources to achieve success.
This amendment is about making sure branches and activists have the skills and understanding to use data effectively — so we can target our support, grow our union, and deliver better outcomes for members.
