UNISON strongly supports this proposed legislation which would incorporate the right to food into Scots law.
As we said in our submission to the Scottish Government’s 2019 Good Food Nation consultation, we also strongly support the proposal to create an independent statutory body – a Food Commission – to monitor progress in meeting the right to food and hold government accountable.
We believe an independent body is necessary to achieve the cross cutting collaboration, oversight and coordination that is needed to sort our broken food system and enable the right to food to be exercised in practice.
