Commenting on the UK Chancellor’s spring statement today (Wednesday), UNISON Scottish secretary Lilian Macer said:
“We all accept that the chancellor is working in difficult circumstances, but she has choices. Cutting social security will not help build a thriving economy, it will bring misery on the very families who are desperate for change.
“And with Scottish councils, universities and social care in crisis and the longest NHS waiting lists since devolution, the chancellor should have looked again at her fiscal rules so she could borrow to make the investment our public services are crying out for.”
