UNISON supports Scotland Demands Better campaign with Poverty Alliance which brings together trade unions and civic society to demand an end to poverty and injustice in Scotland.
On Saturday 25 October 2025, trade unionists, anti‑poverty groups, environmentalists, civic organisations, young people, families and working‑class communities will march in Edinburgh to demand that the Scottish and UK Governments deliver:
-
- Decent jobs that pay a genuine living wage and provide true job security.
- A social security system that guarantees no one is left without life’s essentials.
- Properly funded public services, from the NHS and care sector to transport and housing, that work for everyone.
Working‑class people – who keep Scotland running – have the power to demand a better life for themselves, their families, their neighbours and their communities.
Together we can build a Scotland where governments help people to go forward rather than hold them back. Let’s ensure that Scotland truly demands better.
Scotland Demands Better is being officially launched today (Thursday 19 June) and will march in Edinburgh on 25 October.
