Webinar: Becoming a Social Worker – Supporting NQSWs and final year students
Online event: 8 December at 1pm
The last two years of pandemic have been tough for everyone, but for social work students training for work based around human relationships and change, the challenges have been immense. This has concerned us as trade unionists and we realise we need to be informed if we are to support students and NQSWs effectively. We need to know what to ask of universities and employers. The latest in our lunchtime webinar series looking at radical and critical social work in the time of Covid, will examine and discuss the issues. We welcome the involvement of students, university staff, practice teachers, NQSWs, managers and employers in this event.
Speakers include: Caroline McDonald, senior social worker, practice teacher, UNISON member & SASW Committee member from Glasgow, and Lynn Sheridan Lecturer and UNISON member from Glasgow Caledonian University. The event will be chaired by Stephen Smellie, UNISON NEC member and chair of the Social Work Issues Group (SWIG).
The event is free. Please get a ticket here and a link will be sent to your email address in advance of the event. Any queries or questions contact i.gil@unison.co.uk
