Staff furious at being made to pay for Dundee University’s leaders’ failings

Commenting on Pamela Gillies’ report into serious failings and financial mismanagement by leaders at Dundee University, UNISON Dundee University branch secretary Emma Preston said:

“The university’s leaders who caused this mess had lost the trust of staff a long time ago. While they walk away with golden goodbyes, it’s staff who are paying for their mistakes.

“After seven months, there is still no plan to secure the university’s future. Staff and students are understandably angry. Staff have been told jobs cuts are inevitable, but have been told nothing about what is happening to the student services department.

“This report has to spark the university into a new direction.”

UNISON area organiser, Steve McLellan said: “University staff have been to hell and back over the past seven months. This report is a chance to turn things around.

“The university needs a plan to save jobs and services that are essential to students, staff and the local economy.”
