The Scottish Government draft budget for 2020/21 has been published. The spending total amounts to a real terms increase of 3.6% on last year. However, this does not mean that all services will automatically see an increase in resources.
In straight cash terms local government funding goes up by £495m. However the real picture, taking account of additional spending commitments, amounts to a real terms cut of around £95m. Health overall will receive an almost 6% real terms increase, with most health boards receiving at least 5%+ in real terms.
