UNISON Scotland supports mandatory standards for improving energy efficiency, backed by a regulatory system. But the emphasis should be on encouraging and supporting householders rather than punitive action. We need to seize the opportunities for a Just Transition by creating quality jobs in communities, making use of the skills and experience of existing workers within the energy sector, and harnessing the advantages of public ownership to help achieve the goals of climate and social justice.
