Housing crisis requires long-term investment – Peter MacDonald

Peter MacDonald, Glasgow City branch, also spoke in support of Motion 38, emphasising that the housing crisis is having a direct impact on workers and public services across Scotland.

He argued that without affordable housing, employers will continue to struggle to recruit and retain the skilled workforce needed to deliver high-quality services in remote and rural communities.

Peter stressed that tackling the housing crisis requires long-term investment and joined calls for both the Scottish and UK Governments to prioritise affordable and key worker housing. He urged conference to support the motion, recognising that secure housing is fundamental to sustaining communities, protecting public services and supporting the workforce.
