Josh Morris, Grampian Health branch, spoke in support of Amendment 28.2, which strengthens UNISON’s strategy for challenging Reform UK by recognising the party’s growing electoral success while highlighting that many of its supporters are disillusioned rather than committed to far-right politics.
He argued that the union must engage with members where they are, using UNISON’s values and trusted voice to demonstrate that Reform UK offers more austerity, division and attacks on public services rather than real solutions.
Josh backed the amendment’s call for a coordinated campaign involving regions, branches and workplaces, helping members become more active in challenging misinformation and offering a positive, hopeful alternative rooted in trade union values, equality and strong public services.
