This briefing is about the intended remit of the proposed National Social Work Agency. This remit includes workforce matters and UNISON is engaged with the Scottish Government around this.
Occupational Therapists are not currently included in the scope of the National Social Work Agency. Social workers and para-professional staff (such as social work assistants and family support workers) are the only staff groups currently being considered.
UNISON has highlighted the critical importance of Occupational Therapists in many areas of fieldwork social work and will continue to do so.
