Health staff: Guidance to support health board staff who volunteer to work in community settings during this crisis has now been agreed. The letter outlines the high level principles. It also reiterates health board and host organisations’ obligations to staff. Health boards continue to have an obligation to protect the health and safety of their staff while they are deployed in other settings. As do community service providers who host staff.
Health board staff cannot be compelled to work a community setting. Staff should not undertake any duties outwith their professional competence. Potential volunteers are encouraged to read the governing principles carefully. Employers should ensure that staff understand these before redeployment is agreed.
