Holocaust memorial day: UNISON Renfrewshire event to remember Jane Haining (27 January)

UNISON Renfrewshire invites you to a special community event commemorating the life and legacy of Jane Haining – the Paisley woman who worked at the JP Coats Threadmill before serving as a Church of Scotland missionary in Hungary, where she cared for Jewish girls during the Holocaust. Jane ultimately lost her life at Auschwitz-Birkenau and is recognised as one of Scotland’s greatest heroes of courage and compassion.

The public event at Coats Paisley brings together the community, Jane’s family, local schools, faith groups and members of the trade union movement to ensure her story continues to be told.

The day will include the showing of a new short film which is part of an education programme to be rolled out across Renfrewshire, as well as music, speeches and a PACE Theatre production – The Sma Shot Story.
