SSSC Consultation on Expanding the Register

thumbnail of UNISON Response SSSC Consultation 04 2025The Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) has been consulting on a  proposal for Social Work Assistants to become registered. The term Social Work Assistant is being used to refer to all paraprofessional roles within social work.

This is UNISON’s response to the consultation, which asked for views on the following:

  • the proposed role descriptors and the core tasks and functions of the paraprofessional role
  • the qualification requirements
  • the proposed fee levels
  • the Continuous Professional Learning (CPL) requirements
