The BIG Vote

UNISON is electing a new general secretary following Dave Prentis’ decision to retire after 20 years in the role.

Please see more information at UNISON’s UK website

This is an important election for an important job. The general secretary is the face of your union. They represent you, and the other 1.3 million members of UNISON, in meetings with politicians and employers across the UK, in the press on TV and on social media and when working with other trade unions. They are the person who speaks up for you and the vital job you do.

So, if you were a member or retired member on 28 July 2020, please make sure you use your vote.

The ballot opens on 28 October and closes on 27 November.

Look out for your ballot pack in the post. Along with the ballot paper you will find information from the candidates so you’ll have everything you need to take part in the election. Just read the information, make your choice and vote. There’s a pre-paid envelope in your pack so you don’t need to find a stamp. Just get it in the post. It needs to reach CES, the independent organisation running the election on our behalf, by the closing date in order to be counted – so don’t leave it until the last minute to pop it in the post.

UNISON Helpline opens on 10 November

If you can’t find your ballot paper, or haven’t received one, contact our election helpline free on 0800 0 857 857/textphone 0800 0 967 968. The helpline opens on 10 November and closes at noon on 20 November – which is the last date you can ask for a replacement ballot paper.

Be heard, use your vote
