The staffing crisis in our NHS – letter to MSPs

thumbnail of NHS staffing crisis an introductory noteUNISON Scotland has today (Monday) written to all MSPs to raise key concerns about the staffing crisis in our NHS and outline solutions to get the NHS back to full health.

The letter is accompanied by a short briefing which outlines the urgent need to tackle long-standing problems in the NHS.

UNISON, Scotland’s largest health union, says causes of the current problems in the NHS include failure to invest in social care, an ageing workforce, stagnating pay, and delays in filling vacancies – all of which were predicted by UNISON. It also highlights a range of actions that should be considered to address these issues.
