UNISON Scotland’s disabled members prepare to launch Year of the Disabled Worker

UNISON Scotland’s Disabled Members will formally launch UNISON’s Year of the Disabled Worker at the union’s Scottish Council meeting on Saturday.

As part of Disability History Month, Pam Duncan-Glancy MSP and Scottish Labour spokesperson for Social Justice and Social Security will join the union’s disabled members to launch the event.

Alison Mitchell, of UNISON’s Disabled Members Committee, said: “January 2022 marks the start of a year-long campaign by UNISON to celebrate the successes that disabled people have made to the disability movement and to the workplace, and to challenge the societal and environmental barriers to employing and promoting disabled people leaving them trapped in roles far below their aspirations and abilities.

“We’re delighted to welcome Pam Duncan Glancy MSP to help us mark the launch of UNISON’s Year of the Disabled Worker.”
