UNISON West Lothian is in dispute with West Lothian Council over plans to change the service delivery of school support for young people with additional needs. UNISON members who have provided educational support for over 20 years are being told that their services are no longer required and face a drop in pay from plans to relocate them.
UNISON members, stewards, and officers protested at the Civic Centre along with concerned parents and local councillors on 23rd February to make our feelings known and received good coverage from the local media.
UNISON has triggered the Avoidance of Dispute procedure with the aim of resolving the issue without taking any form of official action, however our members have voted unanimously in favour of being balloted for further action if this process fails. Talks with the employer continue as we go to press.
