Reaction to National Care Service Bill delay until June

photo of UNISON Scotland regional secretary Tracey DallingReacting to the news that the Scottish government’s National Care Service (Scotland) Bill has been delayed until June, UNISON’s Scotland’s regional secretary Tracey Dalling said:

“We welcome the news that the Scottish government has paused its plans for the National Care Service (Scotland) Bill until June. UNISON is not against a national care service, but this isn’t it. The current Bill leaves profit at the very heart of service provision as well as creating an even more insecure workforce.

UNISON want to work with who ever becomes the next First Minister to progress the Scottish governments promise of fair work in social care. UNISON want to be part of the solution and help build a national care service that’s worthy of the name.”
