Christina McAnea, UNISON General Secretary, interviewed on the BBC Scotland Seven by Johnny Beatie about the Scottish Government’s public sector pay policy for 2021-22, which was announced alongside the Scottish budget last week.
She says: “I am pleased the Scottish government have not gone down the UK govt route of having a pay freeze, but teh Scottish government announcement is nowhere near enough. We have got pay claims in for local government and NHS staff, a claim for £2k for our NHS members, and that is something that is reasonable” She said: “we will be going into negotiations with the Scottish govt and employer organisations to try and shift this.”
