UNISON launches consultative ballot of NHS workers over pay

UNISON Scotland has today (Monday) launched a consultative ballot of NHS workers asking them to vote on the Scottish government’s flat rate pay offer of £2,205.

The offer is to all NHS staff on Agenda for Change pay grades – effective from 1 April 2022.

UNISON Scotland was running an official postal strike ballot over a previous offer when the revised proposal was received from the Scottish government. The strike ballot has been suspended while UNISON, Scotland’s largest health union, consults its members on the new offer.

The consultation will run from today until 5pm on Monday, 14 November.

Chair of UNISON Scotland’s health committee Wilma Brown said: “The flat rate pay offer of £2,205 is significantly different from previous offers so UNISON will be consulting NHS staff. They are the ones who will ultimately decide whether they are willing to accept it. It’s important everyone has their say and members are urged to check their emails to make sure they use their vote.”
