Waste workers in Stirling, Perth and Kinross strike for fair pay in local government

UNISON Scottish secretary Lilian Mace joined waste services workers on picket lines today in Stirling.

Lilian said: ” Waste workers in Stirling and Perth & Kinross  are leading our action for local government workers across Scotland. And if the Scottish government want to be a fair work nation by 2025 they need to start by paying local government workers a decent wage”

The action is a four day strike and is part of a wider dispute over the pay offer made to local government workers by COSLA earlier in the year. Strikes are disrupting bin collections and recycling across Stirling and Perth &Kinross.

30,000 school staff are also being balloted for strike action which could take place in September.
