Since its introduction in June 2022, UNISON has campaigned for the National Care Service Bill to be withdrawn. We want to work constructively with the Scottish Government and other partners to bring forward a new Bill that will meet with much wider support.
Sixteen months after its introduction, the Stage One vote on the principles of the Bill has still not taken place. The vote has now been postponed three times.
In the face of widespread opposition, over the summer the Scottish Government held discussions with trade unions and with COSLA to try to find a way forward. This e-briefing provides an update and explains where things stand with the Bill now.
