UNISON members working for Quarriers, Capability Scotland, and The Mungo Foundation will now receive £8.75 per hour when working sleepovers.
Submitted as part of UNISON’s pay claim to each organisation, UNISON has successfully negotiated the Scottish Living Wage rate for each hour worked by our members, flying in the face of the recent Mencap judgement proclaiming that these hours shouldn’t count as normal working hours.
UNISON Scotland regional organiser Deborah Clarke, said: “It is testament to UNISON members and activists in these employers that we have been able to deliver such a positive result.
“I firmly believe that this move will do much to alleviate poverty amongst staff who work sleepovers and demonstrates how important it is to be a member of a strong and active union like UNISON.”
She continued “We continue to work with other charities to ensure that a similar offer is made to members, spreading the benefits of UNISON membership across the sector.”
